About half of Mykolaiv district has already been equipped with anti-drone nets to protect against FPV drone attacks.
This was stated by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, on the air of the telethon «Novyny.Live».
As you know, Russian troops have been targeting civilians in three communities in Mykolaiv region with FPV drones: Ochakiv, Kutsurub and Halytsynove. The enemy launches drones from the territory of the temporarily occupied Kinburn Spit.
«Most often, FPV drones are used now [...] As for anti-drone nets, about half of Mykolaiv district is already equipped with them. This is the area on the right bank of the Southern Bug, and we continue to build this capacity,» said Vitalii Kim.
According to him, the Halytsynove community also plans to install anti-drone nets, but it is currently being done «just in case».
«The Halytsynove and Lymany also have such plans, but this is done for the future, just in case. So that later people won't say why it wasn't done earlier. Nevertheless, drone strikes do not occur every day, and these routes are not primarily logistical channels for the military, so the threat is slightly less. Nevertheless, we are still thinking ahead and will do everything we can to protect ourselves and save at least one life,» he added.
As you know, the first anti-drone tunnel to protect civilian and military transport from attacks by enemy FPV drones was built in Zaporizhzhia region. The anti-drone tunnel allows for safer movement of personnel and equipment and evacuation of the wounded. And for civilians, it reduces the risks of travelling within the frontline areas.
In turn, the mayor of Ochakiv, Serhii Bychkov, believes that instead of nets to protect the city from Russian FPV drones, more electronic warfare equipment should be purchased.
