On Wednesday, 22 October, a Russian drone attacked a private kindergarten in the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. At least three explosions were heard in the city. A 40-year-old man was killed and seven people were injured in the attack.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote about the strike and the head of the Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov reported it.
According to preliminary reports, Russian troops used drones of the Shahed type.
«A private kindergarten in the Kholodnohirskyi district was hit, with children injured. There is a fire at the site of the strike,» said Ihor Terekhov.
Later, the mayor denied the information about the injured children and said that everyone from the kindergarten had been evacuated, but that the fire was still being extinguished.
«As of now, all children have been evacuated from the kindergarten. The fire continues,» the mayor said.
Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the attack.
«All children have been evacuated and are in shelters. According to preliminary information, many have an acute stress reaction. There is and cannot be any justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten. It is obvious that Russia is getting brazen. These strikes are Russia's spit in the face of everyone who insists on a peaceful solution,» the President said.
As a reminder, Russian troops have attacked the Ochakiv, Halytsynove and Kutsurub communities in Mykolaiv region nine times with FPV drones.
