Alaska organises protest ahead of Putin-Trump meeting

A number of civil society organisations in the US state of Alaska have announced a protest ahead of a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This is stated in a statement by Stand UP Alaska.
According to the organisers, the event will take place on 14 August in the state's largest city, Anchorage.
«The president invited Vladimir Putin. We are here to tell Trump and Putin: #AlaskaStandsWithUkraine», the statement reads.
The action is declared as a peaceful protest in solidarity with Ukraine. In the comments on the Stand UP Alaska Facebook page, Ukrainian users left words of gratitude.
At the same time, American participants are discussing their own initiatives. In particular, residents of the Havernment Hill neighbourhood were asked to hang the colours of the Ukrainian flag on their roofs, in their yards and on the streets. Others suggested placing an inscription: «Welcome to Kyiv».

The White House is considering inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Alaska, where US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Putin on 15 August.
