Two people killed in morning shelling of Kyiv, children among those injured

As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on the morning of 7 May, two people were killed and eight others were injured. Among the victims were four children, three of whom were hospitalised with burns.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service and Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko.

Rescue operations were carried out in Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Dniprovskyi districts.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, the drone debris hit a nine-storey residential building. Apartments on the top four floors caught fire. The fire covered an area of 100 square metres. Five people were rescued, including four children. Three of them suffered burns and were hospitalised.

In Solomianskyi district, the debris fell in an open area, without further consequences.

In Dniprovskyi district, a drone hit a multi-storey building. The floors between the 29th and 30th floors were partially destroyed. There was no fire and no injuries.

In Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell on a five-storey building. The fire broke out on the third and fifth floors. During the firefighting, rescuers found the bodies of two dead people.

Later, the mayor of Kyiv clarified that the total number of injured had increased to eight: another woman was hospitalised, and four people were treated on the spot.

In addition, at 04:36, rescuers in Bucha district received a report that a fire and destruction had occurred on the second floor of a ten-storey building in a residential complex in the village of Sofiyivska Borshchahivka as a result of a Russian UAV attack. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
