Russian shelling of Odesa region's port infrastructure caused ₴1.2 million in environmental damage

A large-scale fire broke out in Kiliia, Odesa region, as a result of Russian shelling of the port infrastructure on 29 January this year. Environmentalists estimated the environmental damage at 1.2 million hryvnias.
According to the State Environmental Inspectorate, the fire engulfed production workshops covering an area of 4,800 square metres. Almost 400 tonnes of carbon dioxide were released into the atmosphere.
All the data was transferred to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine, where it will be included in the register of damage caused by Russian aggression.
As a reminder, as a result of the Russian shelling on 14 December 2024, critical infrastructure facilities were damaged in Odesa district. The damage to the environment exceeded 3.3 million hryvnias.
