The chief accountant of one of the branches of the joint-stock company «Ukrzaliznytsia» in Poltava region is suspected of collaborating with the Russian FSS.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to law enforcement, the agent's liaison was her husband, a militant of Russian groups fighting against Ukraine on the eastern front.
According to the case file, the official passed on to the Russians the time, directions and specifics of the cargo of military echelons travelling by rail in the region.
The enemy was most interested in the trains of the Defence Forces, which transported heavy armoured vehicles, artillery and ammunition to the front line.
«To obtain intelligence, the official used the official documents she worked with as a chief accountant. She also asked her colleagues for additional information about the transportations at», the statement said.
The SBU said that the suspect first passed the information through her husband, who is fighting for Russia in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, and then she was put in direct contact with a Russian curator.
The woman was detained at her home in Poltava. According to the investigation, she had lived in Horlivka, Donetsk region, until 2014, but moved to Poltava after the city was seized by Russians.
The SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Article 111, paragraph 2 (high treason committed under martial law); Article 436-2, paragraphs 1 and 3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The suspect is currently in custody without the right to be released on bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. It is also planned to serve her husband with a notice of suspicion in absentia.
Earlier it was reported that a 24-year-old resident of Podilskyi district, who was on probation for illegal deforestation, was detained in Odesa region. He is now suspected of organising a channel for men to escape from Ukraine.
