Law enforcement officers detained Serhii Hnezdilov, a soldier of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, who voluntarily left the military unit and talked about it on social networks. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

This is reported by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

It is noted that at the beginning of September, the soldier was sent to the hospital for a medical examination, but he did not undergo a real examination and was not in a medical facility.

After the completion of the term of the military medical commission, he did not return to the place of service, even more so, he hid from the law enforcement officers for two weeks, changing places and cities of residence.

«The demonstrative and public abandonment of a military unit in wartime conditions is not only immoral in relation to our brothers who remained at the front, but also demoralizes society and initiates a false discussion, which clearly works in the hands of our enemy,» the SBI said in a statement.

Investigators detained a serviceman on suspicion of voluntarily leaving a military unit, committed for the purpose of evading military service, under martial law, which is provided for in part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

He faces up to 12 years in prison.

It will be recalled that the Mykolaiv court found a 43-year-old local resident guilty of evading military service. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
