The police started an investigation into the fact of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier

On the morning of September 17, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, announced another war crime by the Russian army.

The Ombudsman reports that photos appeared on social networks showing how the Russians probably executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war with a sword, his hands bound with tape.

«The level of barbarism and bloodthirstiness is unfathomable. Such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War!», he added.

Later, the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office reported that a sword with the inscription «For Kursk» had been stuck in a man in Novohrodivka.

«The published photos show that the occupiers stuck a sword with the inscription «For Kursk» into a serviceman of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In the picture, the killed serviceman is missing his equipment and has a sticky tape on one of his hands,» wrote the Donetsk Prosecutor's Office.

The Donetsk regional prosecutor's office has started a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder, which is provided for in part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On the air of Suspilne, the head of the department of combating crimes in conditions of armed conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office, Denys Lysenko, noted that they are now trying to establish the exact time, the victim, as well as the persons involved in the commission of this crime.

He also said that in addition to the direct perpetrators, the investigation will also collect information about the commanders.

It will be recalled that Dmytro Lubinets, the human rights representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that Russian prisoners can only write letters, but not call home.
