Poland plans to purchase another 5,000 Starlink satellite internet kits for Ukraine.

This was announced on Tuesday, 11 March, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalisation of Poland Krzysztof Gawkowski, Wiadomosci reports.

According to him, Poland has already purchased about 30,000 sets.

«Today it is about 30,000 Starlink sets that we have purchased and which are working in Ukraine, we are in the process of purchasing another 5,000 sets», he said.

The minister noted that the total cost of Starlink financing for Ukraine costs the country $200 million annually.

«The first subscription was in 2022. This is the fourth year of funding. Purchases were made in tranches, and now we are replenishing them», the politician explained.

He stressed that without a stable Internet connection, the Ukrainian front would not be able to function effectively, and Russia could reach the borders of Poland.

«Today, Ukraine is a partner that gives us a chance that there is no Russian army on our borders, and this is the most important thing today,» the minister said.

Earlier it was reported that European countries are looking for options to replace the Starlink satellite internet service for Ukraine amid a possible termination of its operation. One of the main drivers of these talks was the meeting between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, shortly after which America stopped supplying military aid to Ukraine.
