Finland has launched a new programme of support for Ukraine, which provides for the purchase of military products from Finnish defence companies instead of transferring stocks. The Ministry of Defence plans to allocate 660 million euros to implement the initiative.

According to the Ministry of Defence of Finland, the relevant funding will be included in the first government supplementary budget.

Defence Minister Antti Hakkänen noted that this approach will not only strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities, but also support the Finnish defence industry.

«So far, we have mainly supported Ukraine through the transfer of stocks, but in the future, products will be largely ordered from our domestic companies. With these decisions, we will strengthen Ukraine's chances for a fair peace, as well as support the Finnish defence sector and ensure security of supply in the future», Antti Hakkänen explained.

The procurement will be carried out by the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Department. Priority will be given to products that meet the most urgent needs of Ukraine and can be quickly manufactured and delivered.

Weapons and military equipment will be transferred to Kyiv as part of future aid packages.

In early 2025, Finland allocated a new military aid package to Ukraine worth €198 million. This is the 27th batch of military equipment from Helsinki.
