The UK is providing emergency support of £35 million to Ukraine. The funds will be used to restore the country's energy network and provide humanitarian assistance to the population.

As reported on the British government website, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that England is also introducing new sanctions against Russia's energy sector today.

«These sanctions will further pressure Russia's collapsing economy. At the same time, we are supporting Ukraine to meet humanitarian needs and carry out vital repairs to the power system, helping Ukrainians survive the third winter of Russia's illegal, full-scale invasion,» the Prime Minister said.

The department noted that 20 million pounds will be allocated to meet emergency energy needs, namely, to repair power transmission networks and provide additional capacity.

It should be noted that the funds will also be used to protect energy infrastructure, in particular, for a project to produce an additional 20 MW of electricity, which will be able to provide electricity to 20,000 homes.

In addition, 15 million pounds will go to humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable segments of the population.

Previously, the UK allocated an additional £7.5 million to the Drone Coalition, which was created to support Ukraine.
