Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Haar Støre announced that the government will allocate 100 million kroner (about 9.5 million dollars) to continue the mission to evacuate seriously injured Ukrainians for treatment in Europe.

As VG writes, the program includes the use of a specially equipped aircraft that performs the functions of flying intensive care.

Jonas Har Støre emphasized that such a program is vitally necessary for seriously injured Ukrainians. The agreement between Norway and the EU was originally due to expire in November, but the converted SAS aircraft, which has been operational since August 2022, will continue the evacuation until April 2025.

«It is very important to take some of the seriously injured for treatment. We have an aircraft and a crew that have great international recognition so that we can do this job,» said the Norwegian prime minister.

He noted that almost half of all evacuated seriously ill Ukrainians, 1,931 people, were transported by this particular plane. Most of these patients are people with severe cancers, trauma and combat wounds.

Patients are brought to Poland, and then transported to hospitals in Europe. In particular, 400 patients of the Norwegian medical evacuation plane were treated in Norway.

We will remind that by the end of the year, Ukraine will receive six F-16 fighters from Norway.
