On Tuesday, 15 April, a documentary photo album «Chronicles of Mykolaiv — 2022» was presented in Mykolaiv, which tells the story of the first year of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The presentation of the album took place at the Central Library named after Marko Kropyvnytskyi, according to a correspondent of NikVesti.
The photo album was created on the basis of photographs of Mykolaiv residents who remained in the city during the hostilities. It includes the works of photographers Svitlana Koval, Serhii Kononenko, Max «Makaren», Dmytro Skorokhodov and other authors.
The album contains a calendar of events that took place in Mykolaiv from 24 February to 31 December 2022. The book provides information about the actions of the authorities during the period of active hostilities, as well as the work of utilities, transport, shops, medical facilities or volunteers.
Yurii Liubarov, Head of the Department for Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection at Mykolaiv City Council, said that the photo album was created over a period of almost ten months. According to him, the book contains 389 photographs, and the first edition is 250 copies.
«The photo album will be available for purchase at our tourist centre, with a price of 1000 hryvnias per book. The bulk of the circulation will be donated to libraries and museums, and some will be given as souvenirs to guests and donors who support the city. After the war is over, we plan to create several more editions chronicling the events in Mykolaiv at», added Yurii Liubarov.

One of the authors of the photo album, Svitlana Koval, said that she documented the events in Mykolaiv so that her friends and acquaintances who were outside the city could see the real picture of the war.
«She decided to record the story for her friends and acquaintances who were not in the city at the time, so that they would know what was happening in Mykolaiv. Many people had left by then — some during the evacuation, some on their own. I did it not for money, not for anything — I just took my camera every day and filmed, watched what was happening in the city. I would have liked to capture happy moments, but it so happened that I had to film the history of the war», says Svitlana Koval.
Volodymyr Alekseev, a musician from Mykolaiv, stressed that this is not just a chronicle of Mykolaiv, but a book of memory that will help people remember the events of the war.
«First of all, this is not just a chronicle of Mykolaiv — it is a book of memory. Someday, the time will come when people will remember these events, and we will remind them of them. For me personally, these photos symbolise something that almost no one has to talk about. I want to thank everyone who did not leave Mykolaiv in the early days but stayed and did everything they could in their place», says Volodymyr Aleksieiev.

As a reminder, the first bookstore of the chain was opened in Mykolaiv «Knyharnia E».
