From Mykolaiv to the Black Sea: a historian creates accurate 3D models of lighthouses in southern Ukraine

The founder of the Mykolaiv Bazar internet project, historian Andrii Shynkarenko, created accurate minicopies of the sea lighthouses of southern Ukraine, printed on a 3D printer.

In general, the man plans to create all 60 lighthouses that are on the territory of Ukraine, Mykolaiv Crisis Media Center reports.

Andriy Shynkarenko's passion for miniatures began in his childhood with the creation of a children's railway model.

Later in 2016, an exhibition of 3D models of historical buildings «Dream city: the world in miniature» was created in the Mykolaiv Museum of Local History. In 2023, shelter stops were added to the exposition.

«These are the changes brought to the city by a full-scale invasion,» said Andrii Shynkarenko.

The first lighthouse that was created as part of the idea was the Ozharskyi lighthouse, which was near the Mykolaiv alumina plant.

Later, the historian created the Rear Siversov lighthouse and the Stanislaus-Adzhyhol lighthouse damaged by the Russian military. He handed over all three lighthouses to the Mykolaiv Shipbuilding and Fleet Museum.

Among the created lighthouses there is also the lighthouse from Zmiinyi Island, the Front Siversov lighthouse and the old lighthouse from Dzharylhach Island. Further plans include dismantling the lighthouse model from Mykolaiv to the Black Sea along the Dnieper-Bug estuary and in the Odesa-Dniester direction.

He creates all 3D models together with his son. They are printed, painted and collected. It takes about a week to make one, depending on the complexity of the work.

We remind, 3D designer from Mykolaiv Oleksandr Yermolaev created a detailed model of the Mariupol Theater from LEGO. The work was presented at the «Soul of Mariupol Theater» photo exhibition in Kyiv.
