This became known today, 30 December, during a session of the city council, according to NikVesti.
According to Yurii Liubarov, head of the Mykolaiv City Council's culture department, «decent wages» will help retain qualified professionals in culture and contribute to the development «of the country's creative potential».
«We, the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council of the VIII convocation, appeal to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to ensure decent wages for cultural workers [...] We are confident that qualified cultural workers who receive decent wages will be able to ensure the development of the nation's creative potential, the formation of its values, and the education of patriotic generations, which, after the victory, will become the basis for the restoration and prosperity of our state,» said Yurii Liubarov.

-
To increase the basic salary of an employee of the first tariff category to ₴3,600 by amending the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution on a unified tariff scale.
-
To introduce an additional payment of 5,200 hryvnias for cultural workers working in frontline and border communities.
-
Establish a fixed 50% supplement to the salary for library workers for special working conditions.
-
Introduce a similar 50% supplement for employees of clubs and other cultural and artistic institutions.
-
Establish a fixed 30% salary supplement for pedagogical staff of educational institutions, regardless of their subordination.
-
Reinstate the legal provisions that provide for the remuneration of pedagogical, academic and research staff, including the provision for three minimum salaries for the lowest qualification category.
-
Restore the 2019 resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on remuneration of pedagogical, academic and research staff.
As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, the salaries of music school staff are to be increased by 30% next year. The city is trying to increase the prestige of music education in the city.
According to the mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych, even a salary increase will not solve the problem of staff shortages. According to him, the Department of Culture continues to experience an acute lack of funding, which limits the ability to support extracurricular activities and music schools.
It is worth noting that Mykolaiv City Council has changed its plans for the fate of the cultural heritage protection department, which was to be removed from the specialised department and transferred to the architecture department as part of the structure reform. Now the mayor's office sees it necessary to create a separate structural unit responsible for the cultural heritage of Mykolaiv.
In addition, the chief architect of Mykolaiv, Yevhen Poliakov, called the protection of cultural heritage an under -implemented area.
It is worth noting that the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration warns the Mykolaiv City Council that the transfer of functions of protecting cultural heritage sites to the Department of Architecture and Urban Development may «create a potential conflict of interest».
