In the first nine months of 2025, Ukrainian businesses have already paid about 234.4 million hryvnias in tourist tax to local budgets. This is one and a half times more than in the same period before the full-scale invasion. In the Mykolaiv region, however, only 1.4 million hryvnias was collected from tourists during this time.

This was reported by Opendatabot.

The summer season traditionally brought in the most tourist taxes — from July to September, businesses paid 91.7 million hryvnias, which is 20% more than in the previous quarter. More than half of the revenues — 53% or 125.2 million hryvnias — came from large hotels, resorts and recreation centres. The remaining 47%, or 109.2 million hryvnias, was paid by small businesses, i.e. owners of apartments, estates and small tourist facilities.

Kyiv remains the leader in terms of the amount of tourist tax, with more than 51 million hryvnias collected, which is a fifth of the national figure. Next in the ranking are Lviv region (42.5 million hryvnias) and Ivano-Frankivsk region (32.5 million hryvnias).

The largest increase in revenue during the holiday season was recorded in Odesa region — the figure increased by 12.74 million hryvnias, although these results are still 17% lower than in 2021.

Meanwhile, Mykolaiv region remains among the regions that are not popular with tourists: in the first nine months of 2025, the region collected only 1.44 million hryvnias in tax. Similar results were also reported by Zaporizhzhia (1.27 million hryvnias), Chernihiv (1.31 million hryvnias), and Dnipropetrovsk (1.41 million hryvnias) regions.

Tourist tax is an additional tax paid by guests when staying in a hotel, hostel or renting holiday accommodation. The amount varies from a few tens of hryvnias for Ukrainians to several hundred for foreigners. In 2025, the maximum rate is 40 hryvnias for domestic tourists and 400 hryvnias for foreigners.

It is worth noting that in the first half of 2025, Mykolaiv received only ₴810 thousand in tourist tax.
