Deputies of the Mykolaiv Regional Council have approved an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to allocate more funds for the repair and maintenance of roads of national and regional importance in 2026.
The decision was made on 9 October during the 31st session of the regional council, according to NikVesti.
Valentyn Boiko, a deputy from the party «Proposytsiia», noted that in June he sent an appeal to repair the T-1506 road, which is in a state of emergency. According to him, this issue was considered by the relevant commission, but there are still no results.
«On 8 June, I sent a deputy appeal to the head of the regional council to repair the T-1506 road, which has been in critical condition for a long time. The issue was brought up at a meeting of the specialised committee, but as of today, there has been no response from the regional administration or the Restoration Service. I would like to remind you that a deputy's appeal is not a formality, but a tool for communicating with voters. The lack of response from the authorities violates the principles of democracy and undermines trust in local government,» said Valentyn Boiko.
During his speech, he put forward three proposals: not to hold the next session until a response is received from the regional administration; to find out how many deputy appeals have remained unanswered; and to invite a representative of the regional state administration to present a report on the use of funds for road repairs.
«The first suggestion is not to hold the next session until there is an official response from the regional military administration and the Service for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure to the recommendations of the specialised commission on the repair of this road. Second, I want us to vote and find out how many such appeals from the regional council have gone unanswered. I personally checked — our appeal is there, but no one can explain why there is no response. And the third thing is to invite Valentyn Haidardzhy, Deputy Head of the Regional Road Administration, to present a report and explain where the 960 million hryvnias that were allegedly spent this year on repairing more than 800 kilometres of roads went. What I see in the west of Voznesensk district is complete devastation, and people are driven to despair,» said Valentyn Boiko.
In particular, MP Valentyn Boiko suggested to his colleagues that after the session meeting he suggested to his colleagues that after the session meeting he would go and personally see the poor state of the roads.
«I suggest that when the session is over, the deputy corps should take the R-55 road to Veselynove, then turn left onto the R-1506 road and arrive in Stepove, to see the happiness that residents have been contemplating for many years and have been forced to endure. I understand that after this trip, the deputies will treat each other as brothers. But it must be done,» the deputy suggested.
«Thank you, Valentyn. Did you go personally?» asked Anton Tabunschyk, chairman of the regional council.
«I did, and I had the audacity to drive at 25 km per hour, sometimes the speed was 30 km per hour. But still, I managed to break the crankcase in my car,» replied Valentyn Boiko.
Serhiy Shulhach, a member of the Commission on Industrial Policy, Entrepreneurship and Transport Infrastructure and a member of the regional council from the party «Propozytsiia», explained why road repairs are delayed. According to him, the regional administration can only recommend, but cannot directly start the work, because it is the responsibility of «Ukravtodor» and the Reconstruction Agency.
«We can recommend that the T-1506 and P-55 routes be included in the repair plan, but we have no direct intervention. Work is already underway on T-1506, but many roads need attention. In addition, repairs are being carried out on the basis of letters from military units, and we cannot name them all at the moment,» said Shulhach.

Anton Tabunschyk added that the issue of the state of the P-55 road was actively discussed at the recent Congress of Local Councils.
Summing up the discussion, all the proposals made by MP Valentyn Boiko regarding the state of the roads were not supported. Instead, they approved Serhii Shulhach's appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers to increase funding for the maintenance of regional roads in all areas — overhaul and maintenance — for 2026. This decision was adopted and included in the agenda of the next session.
As a reminder, the Mykolaiv Oblast Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service is looking for a contractor to repair and maintain public roads of national importance. The total expected cost is 1.6 billion hryvnias.
It is noted that the total length of roads to be maintained and repaired is 814.3 kilometres.
