Negative balance: more than 6,000 individual entrepreneurs have closed in Mykolaiv region since the beginning of the year

In Mykolaiv region this year, the number of closed sole proprietorships exceeded the number of newly established ones. As of 1 October, 5,882 new entrepreneurs were registered in the region, while 6,363 ceased operations.

This is evidenced by analytical data from Opendatabot, according to NikVesti.

At the same time, Odesa region, with 16.4 thousand registrations, is among the top five regions where people are most active in starting a business. Kyiv (30.5 thousand new sole proprietors), Dnipro (22.2 thousand), Lviv (17.2 thousand), and Kyiv (16.7 thousand) regions are also in the top five.

The highest number of closures was recorded in the capital — 27,500, in Dnipro (19,100), Kharkiv (17,700), and Odesa (16,100).

In total, more than 225,000 individual entrepreneurs opened in Ukraine in 2025, which is almost equal to last year's figures. September was the most active month, with 29.6 thousand new entrepreneurs compared to 21.4 thousand in January. At the same time, more than 213,000 entrepreneurs closed down, which is 11% more than last year.

It should be noted that more than 45,000 closed sole proprietorships were registered this year alone. However, the overall balance remains positive: 15 thousand more businesses were opened than closed.

Traditionally, the most common area for new registrations is trade: retail (29%) and wholesale (8%). Next are IT, restaurant business, and information services. Closures most often occur in the same sectors.

This year, women dominate among entrepreneurs, with 6 out of 10 new sole proprietorships being set up by them. In Sumy region, their share reached a record 63%. Women are more likely to choose services, education, medicine, and clothing production. Men focus on logistics, construction, and equipment repair.

Foreigners are not standing aside either: in 2025, 1648 non-resident sole proprietorships were opened in Ukraine, most of them among citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, and Armenia.
