Municipal enterprise «Mykolaivelectrotrans» has started looking for investors to upgrade its tram fleet. The project requires 1.6 billion hryvnias.
This was announced on 3 September during an online briefing by the company's director Yuriy Smetana.
«We continue to search for investors and organisations that can help us update the tram fleet. Since the trolleybus fleet has already been completely renewed, our main task now is to renew the trams. We have placed an application on the state platform Dream for this project. At every meeting and during his business trips, the mayor emphasises to his partners the importance of renewing the tram fleet, as our fleet has been in operation since the 1980s. We understand that this is an old fleet, and the process of its renewal is complex and time-consuming,» he said.
Yuriy Smetana also stressed that the city is negotiating with international partners both to obtain used vehicles and to purchase new modern trams. According to him, there are certain developments, but it is too early to talk about them, and the final decisions will be made public later.
According to the Dream platform, it is planned to purchase 31 tramcars of the K-1T104 model. The project description states that this upgrade will increase the mobility of residents, reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution, and develop an efficient and environmentally friendly public transport system.
Earlier, KP «Mykolaivelektrotrans» reported that on 3 September, traffic on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue in the area of the Mykolaiv Zoo will be resumed in Mykolaiv after the repair of the tram crossing is completed.
