Ukraine will receive a grant from Japan in the amount of 8.8 billion Japanese yen, or about $58 million.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Japan on 11 February.
«These are funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance reconstruction projects. I am grateful to the Japanese partners for their consistent and unwavering support of», he said.
Denys Shmyhal added that the government is systematically working to attract additional resources for reconstruction programmes based on the principle of «build back better». In particular, changes in one of them, namely the improvement of logistics capacities and the restoration of transport infrastructure, are already being felt by Ukrainian businesses and citizens.
He stressed that with the support of partners, this area will be strengthened along with other recovery priorities: housing, energy, and critical infrastructure.
As a reminder, Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have signed agreements that will provide financing for the restoration of energy and critical infrastructure.
