Sienkevych does not see the development of Mykolaiv without tax benefits from the state

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that the city will not be able to develop without tax benefits from the state, because due to high business risks, Mykolaiv does not attract investors and is inferior to other regions of Ukraine.

He said this during the conference «Mykolaiv — a city on the wave», which took place on October 31 in Kyiv, write NikVesti.

«Today we are not competitive with other regions — Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Uzhgorod, Lviv. Business is about money, and money is about risk. Mykolaiv is a zone of higher risk and lower profits,» he said.

Oleksandr Sienkevych believes that it is impossible to solve the issue of investment attractiveness at the local level without the support of the state, and emphasized that Mykolaiv needs special tax preferences for its successful development.

«We can create strategies, but the business will say: «And why?». And we cannot solve this issue at the local level. Industrial parks in Ukraine are good, but industrial parks in Mykolaiv should receive specific economic privileges, that is, less taxes and more preferences, and this is possible only at the state level,» he noted.

Oleksandr Sienkevych also emphasized that without state support, all recovery plans will remain only on paper.

«So that the President's Office understands that all these plans that we show, without tax instruments, will remain only drawings,» he concluded.

On October 31, Kyiv hosts the first international conference «Mykolaiv — a city on the wave», organized with the support of the EU, UNDP and the Kingdom of Denmark. The conference is focused on discussing the prospects for recovery and development of Mykolaiv, taking into account the realities of war.

At the event, representatives of the city authorities, in particular the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych and the head of Mykolaiv RMA Vitalii Kim, presented strategic plans for the reconstruction of the city, including the Master Plan, the concept of the «blue economy» and ecological development projects. The main goal of the conference is to attract investments.

It will be recalled that within the framework of the First International Conference «Mykolaiv — a city on the wave», the Mykolaiv mayor signed two memorandums of cooperation aimed at the restoration and development of the city.
