The losses of the agricultural sector of the Mykolaiv Oblast from the war amounted to more than $5.5 billion

The losses of the Mykolaiv Oblast farmers due to the full-scale war amounted to 5.5 billion dollars.

This is stated in the Program of Economic and Social Development of the Mykolaiv Oblast for 2024, which was adopted by the deputies at the session of the Oblast Council on December 14, writes NikVesti.

To date, 73 agricultural producers managed to survey their farms — the number of their stolen, destroyed and damaged machinery and equipment amounted to 1,332 units.

The following areas suffered the most destruction in the region:

  • Agrofusion group of companies. Two state-of-the-art tomato processing plants were destroyed there;
  • TDV Bashtanskyi syrzavod, which moved production facilities outside Mykolaiv region;
  • elevator capacities: JV Nibulon LLC, Nika-Tera Specialized Sea Port LLC, Prometheus Group of Companies, Avery Marine Transshipment Terminal and Zasilske KhHP PJSC.

Earlier, farmer Serhii Kaushan from Kiselyvka, Mykolaiv region, said that this year's harvest season was unsuccessful due to landmines and problems with the sale of grain. According to him, grain prices have tripled. Because of this, it is difficult for farmers to «stay afloat».

At the same time, the head of RMA Vitalii Kim said that currently Mykolaiv farmers are unable to sell their crops at an acceptable price. The cost of grain is very low due to logistics problems.
