On Sunday 23 August, rail services between Mykolaiv and Kherson were temporarily suspended due to an increased risk of Russian shelling.

«Ukrzaliznytsia» sent out relevant notifications to passengers via its app, according to NikVesti.

The notice states that the «Kherson — Mykolaiv — Kherson» trains have been cancelled. Railway officials explained the decision by citing information about an increased risk of shelling of Kherson and the railway infrastructure.

«For safety reasons, travel between Kherson and Mykolaiv today will only be possible by road,» the message to passengers states.

Consequently, passengers who were due to travel by train between the two cities on 23 August will have to use road transport instead.

As a reminder, a Russian «Shahed» missile struck the locomotive of passenger train №147 «Zhytomyr — Odesa». Passengers and railway staff were evacuated in time, and no one was injured.
