A total of 820.8 million hryvnias is set to be spent on the annual maintenance of 3,300 kilometres of local roads in the Mykolaiv region.
This is according to data from the Prozorro public procurement system, as reported by NikVesti.
The contractor is to carry out road maintenance until 1 July 2027. This does not involve a complete reconstruction or major repairs, but rather a range of works designed to keep the roads in a passable condition.
According to the technical specifications, the plan is to fill potholes, renew sections of the asphalt concrete surface, clear verges, ditches and culverts, repair crash barriers, install and replace road signs, apply road markings, maintain roadside trees and shrubs, and in winter — clear snow and treat the roads with de-icing materials.
The longest stretches of road are found in:
- Bashtanka District — approximately 1,012 kilometres;
- Mykolaiv District — approximately 829 kilometres;
- Voznesensk District — approximately 744 kilometres;
- Pervomaisk District — approximately 732 kilometres.
Tender proposals are currently being accepted. After 20 July, the contracting authority — the state-owned enterprise «Mykolaiv Region Local Roads Agency» — is due to hold a tender and select the company to carry out the work.
As a reminder, the Mykolaiv Region Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service plans to repair 1.28 kilometres of road to Ochakiv, at a cost of 44.1 million hryvnias.
And what about road repairs in Mykolaiv?
Following this year’s winter, deep potholes have appeared on Mykolaiv’s roads due to the effects of freeze-thaw cycles and the de-icing agents that were spread over the tarmac.
Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych stated that the city budget currently lacks funds for routine and major road repairs. He noted that the budget contains only 20 million hryvnias, earmarked exclusively for patching potholes throughout the year.
Meanwhile, in a comment to NikVesti, Vitalii Shevchenko, director of the municipal enterprise «ELU Avtodorig», explained that there will be no large-scale pothole repairs on Mykolaiv’s roads for about another month due to unstable weather conditions and the dampness of the road sub-base.
In early March, municipal workers began carrying out pothole repairs on Tsentralnyi Avenue.
And it was decided to allocate 14 million hryvnias from Mykolaiv’s budget for emergency and pothole repairs to roads.
As of May 2026, over 8,500 square metres of roads with emergency potholes had been repaired in Mykolaiv. At the same time, the municipal enterprise «ELU Avtodorig» has announced a tender for the repair of potholes and other deformations in the asphalt concrete surface in Mykolaiv. Over 3 million hryvnias are planned to be allocated for the works.
