In Mykolaiv, residents of the building at 4 Kurortna Street are asking for the windows shattered by shelling to be replaced — they have been covered with OSB sheets for nearly a year, and the building’s third entrance requires repairs.

A local resident, Yuliia Panasenko, published a corresponding appeal to the Contact Centre at Mykolaiv City Council.

According to her, windows in the entrance were shattered after a shell landed near the building. The damaged openings were temporarily covered with OSB boards, but no full-scale repairs have been carried out since then.

«Currently, the damaged openings have been temporarily covered with OSB sheets by the authorities for about a year, but this is not a proper solution to the problem and causes significant inconvenience to the building’s residents,» the appeal states.

In addition, residents complain about the poor condition of the third entrance. According to them, the walls, ceiling and communal areas are in need of repair.

In the appeal, residents ask for an inspection of the damage, assistance with replacing the windows, and consideration of the possibility of carrying out repair work in the entrance.

In comments on the appeal, residents reported that a similar problem remains relevant for other buildings in Mykolaiv that were damaged by Russian shelling. In particular, residents of buildings on Velyka Morska Street and Vitalii Bohonok Street complained that the damaged entrances have still not been repaired.

In particular, local resident Svitlana Kravchuk advised contacting the housing commission via the Administrative Services Centre to submit an application for the repair of damaged windows.

«As far as I know, the municipal utility company is responsible for submitting an application to repair the windows following the damage. Repairs to the entrance hall are carried out either by the residents at their own expense, if it is a homeowners’ association, or by the housing and communal services department. If you want your windows replaced, as in the case of damage following the strike, there is a housing commission in Mykolaiv on Kherson Highway which decides on the allocation of funds for repairs. You can submit an application and photos of the damage to the Administrative Services Centre,» wrote Svitlana Kravchuk.

Meanwhile, Yuliia Panasenko reported that residents had previously approached the management company «Zatyshnyi Dim», but were told that they do not deal with window replacements.

The appeal likely refers to damage to the building caused by the Russian attack on Mykolaiv on the night of 10 April. At that time, nine apartment blocks, around 300 flats, local residents’ cars and a garage cooperative were damaged in the Zavodskyi district due to falling debris and the blast wave. Ten people were also injured.
