In the Mykolaiv region, the «Hunter and Angler» hunting enterprise has relinquished its land use rights due to the impossibility of properly managing the land.

The relevant decision was considered by councillors on 28 May during a session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.

This concerns the enterprise of the citizens’ association «Yelanets Hunting and Fishing Enterprise of the Yelanets District Organisation «Hunter and Fisherman»», which voluntarily relinquished hunting grounds covering an area of 30,353 hectares within the Yelanets community in the Voznesensk district.

These grounds were granted to the enterprise for use back in 2012.

The issue of terminating the use of the grounds had previously been considered by the relevant parliamentary committee. During the discussion, it was emphasised that the absence of a user of the hunting grounds could pose risks not only to the industry but also to food and epizootic safety.

«On unallocated land, it is impossible to respond effectively to epizootic situations in a timely manner. And speed is a matter of life and death,» it was noted during the committee meeting.

Members of the environmental committee also emphasised that hunting management requires significant expenditure and that land users must be financially capable of maintaining them.

It should be recalled that earlier, «Myslyvtsi Pobuzhzhia» LLC and «Kazanka Hunting and Fishing Enterprise» submitted applications to voluntarily relinquish the use of hunting grounds covering over 82,000 hectares.

It was also reported that in the Mykolaiv region, half of the hunting grounds still remain without official users. Currently, only 35 hunting estates in the region have owners.
