There are currently no plans to install new water purification points on a large scale in Mykolaiv. According to municipal services, the network of such points in the city has already «stabilised».

This was announced during a briefing by Ihor Holovatyi, director of the municipal enterprise «Pilot», according to NikVesti.

According to him, no further large-scale expansion of water treatment systems is currently being considered, particularly due to expectations of the restoration of a high-quality centralised water supply.

«In my personal opinion, the situation with water treatment systems has already stabilised over the years. As far as our treatment system is concerned, there are no plans for large-scale additional installations. Especially since we are all counting on the return of high-quality water to the mains supply,» said Ihor Holovatyi.

He noted that there are currently 114 water post-treatment systems on the balance sheet of the «Pilot» municipal enterprise.

Since the start of 2026, 45 million litres of treated water have been supplied to residents via these points. At the same time, 74 million litres of water from boreholes and the centralised network were used to operate the systems.

The utility explained that the difference in volumes is due to technological processes — part of the water is used for flushing and cleaning the systems themselves.

The utility also reminded residents that QR codes are displayed at each water distribution point, allowing residents to check the results of the latest water analyses for that specific station.

According to Ihor Holovatyi, laboratory water sampling is carried out once every two weeks. If the results do not meet standards or if repair or maintenance work is being carried out at the stations, additional tests are conducted.

«In all cases involving scheduled, unscheduled or emergency works, additional tests are carried out to ensure that the problem has been resolved or that no new issues have arisen during the works,» explained the director of the utility company.

As a reminder, during the blackout in Mykolaiv, only 42 out of 114 purified water distribution points are technically capable of operating. According to Ihor Holovatyi, director of the municipal enterprise «Pilot», the company has 114 water distribution points and 41 boreholes on its books.
