In Mykolaiv, the City Council’s Executive Committee has approved changes to traffic management, which involve the installation of new no-stopping and no-parking signs on two streets in the city.

The decision was adopted at a meeting on 27 May, according to NikVesti.

The sections in question are on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street (formerly Admiral Makarov Street) and Vadym Blahovisnyi Street (formerly Nikolska Street ). The aim of the decision is to relieve traffic congestion, ensure safe traffic flow and avoid traffic jams, particularly for public transport.

According to the decision, stopping is prohibited on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street from Artyleriiska Street to Observatorna Street (on the odd-numbered side).

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych explained that these changes are linked to problems with public transport, particularly trolleybuses, near the city hospital.

«Trolleybuses cannot get past the 4th Hospital. This is because people park their cars on both sides. And there simply isn’t enough room for the trolleybus. We decided that on one side it will be possible to park, and on the other side it will not be possible — no parking signs will be installed. This is closer to the hospital, because there is already a car park near the hospital, and the water utility has repaired its excavations there. Therefore, to ensure public transport can operate there, we have taken this decision,» the mayor noted.

Parking restrictions will also apply on both sides of the carriageway on Vadym Blahovisnyi Street — from Zakhysnykiv Mykolaieva Street (formerly Dekabrystiv) to Oleksii Vadaturskyi Street (formerly Falieievska).

Regarding Vadym Blahovisnyi Street, the mayor explained that cars parked there cause traffic jams.

«On Nikolska (Vadym Blahovisnyi Street, — note), we’ve thinned out the parkers a bit. It’s a three-lane street there. It’s the road leading to the «Kyiv-Odesa» motorway. People are constantly stopping their cars there, reducing the three lanes to one. We need to disperse them a bit there so they don’t cause traffic jams,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

It was previously reported that in 2025, parking inspectors issued fines totalling 7.1 million hryvnias for illegal parking in Mykolaiv, of which 946,800 hryvnias were for non-payment of paid parking.

Furthermore, as previously reported, in 2025 the Mykolaiv budget received 74,000 hryvnias in revenue from paid parking from the operator of paid parking lots, the municipal enterprise «Timeset».

And after six months of paid parking operations, the city budget will receive 147,434 hryvnias. Meanwhile, the municipal enterprise «Timeset» made a profit of 5,226 hryvnias from the car parks.

Previously, NikVesti reported on how the paid parking facilities would operate and who would oversee payment.
