Support NikVesti and receive our limited Merch

On 30 April, NikVesti launched a campaign for the NikVesti Club: anyone who takes out an annual subscription can receive our merchandise as a gift. This is your last chance to join the campaign, as stocks are limited.

This merchandise isn’t just items with a logo. We wanted every item to have its own meaning: to be connected to Mykolaiv, the work of journalists, local memes, and the experiences our readers understand so well.

Items with a Mykolaiv character

The «News Without Water» bottle embodies both an editorial principle and a distinctly Mykolaiv context. We try to write without unnecessary fuss, empty phrases and «water» in our texts. And for a city that, following the destruction of the water main in 2022, lived for several years without a proper centralised water supply, this phrase also has a distinct local significance.

The «Spotlight on Activities» candle is a joke about the official language often used to describe journalism. We write facts, not PR. But if anyone really needs «Spotlight of activities» — here it is, literally.

The «Journal for Keeping Journals» notebook is an ironic take on bureaucratic absurdity. Its text is compiled from phrases that journalists regularly see in responses to information requests: «taking into account the above», «in accordance with the requirements of current legislation», «information with restricted access» and other familiar formulations.

The «Keys to the City» keyring is about a sense of shared ownership. The city belongs not to offices or officials, but to its residents. The people who support NikVesti are not just readers to us. They are a community that has the right to know what is happening in the city.

The denim tote bag «NikVesti 100% no jeans» — a pun on the material and our editorial principle. We don’t want advertising or sponsored content to masquerade as journalism.

The T-shirt features the historic tram substation building in Mykolaiv, one of the city’s most recognisable architectural landmarks. It’s about the urban context that doesn’t always make it onto tourist postcards, but is well known to Mykolaiv residents: old buildings, transport history, daily routes and memories of a city that is changing but retains its symbols.

The concept for NikVesti merchandise was developed in collaboration with the Media Development Foundation, with financial support from Internews' FAIR programme. For us, it’s a way of speaking to our readers in the language of Mykolaiv, our editorial team and our community.

What is the NikVesti Club?

The NikVesti Club is a community of readers who regularly support our work. Thanks to this support, we can plan more effectively, work systematically and produce content that takes time: analysis, reports, explanatory pieces, interviews and investigations.

For the editorial team, this is not just financial support. It is an opportunity to maintain our independence and not rely solely on advertising, grants or ad-hoc support. And for readers, it is a way to directly influence the production of more high-quality journalism in Mykolaiv about the city, the authorities, the budget, reconstruction, community issues and people’s lives.

Members of the NikVesti Club also become part of a community closer to the editorial team. We share important content with them, discuss topics, compile questions for the authorities and gain a better understanding of what matters to our readers.

That is why we see this merchandise not as a mere gift, but as a token of gratitude to the people who help NikVesti operate and grow.

For those who already support NikVesti

We would also like to address those who have been supporting us with a monthly subscription for a long time. If you have been on a monthly subscription for almost a year, please do get in touch with us.

We’d like to thank you with a gift and help you switch to an annual subscription if that suits you.

The number of merchandise items is limited. But it is important to us that these items go first and foremost to the people who already support NikVesti and help us operate consistently.
