Work continues on renovating playgrounds in Mykolaiv: 62 sites have already been refurbished since the start of the year. However, no new playgrounds will be built in the city for the time being due to budget constraints.

This was announced during a briefing by Ihor Holovatyi, director of the municipal enterprise DEZ «Pilot», according to NikVesti.

According to him, the company has already renovated 62 children’s and sports playgrounds to date.

«Unfortunately, given the situation with the city’s budget for 2026, there are no plans to install new children’s playgrounds and sports grounds in Mykolaiv. But this does not mean that work is not being carried out. A considerable amount of work is being done on the ongoing repair of children’s playgrounds and sports grounds,» said Ihor Holovatyi.

He added that due to difficult weather conditions in winter, the pace of work was slower than expected, but the company continues to fulfil its obligations.

Ihor Holovatyi also noted that one of the most frequent requests from residents remains the request to replenish the sand in the sandpits at children’s playgrounds. According to the director of the municipal enterprise, 165 tonnes of sand have been used for this purpose since the start of the year.

«Perhaps some people think that this isn’t being done or isn’t being carried out. But since the start of the year, we have used 165 tonnes of sand specifically for playgrounds. That is a significant amount,» he noted.

He reminded that not all playgrounds in the city are on the company’s books. Some of them are managed by district administrations or other responsible bodies, whilst others do not have an officially designated responsible body at all. Consequently, this sometimes leads to misunderstandings with residents who contact the company with complaints about playgrounds that do not belong to «Pilot».

Earlier, Ihor Holovatyi said that the number of complaints from residents regarding the condition of playgrounds in Mykolaiv is increasing.

As a reminder, as of August 2024, 93% of the city’s playgrounds had already been transferred to the balance sheet of the municipal enterprise «Pilot». At the same time, it was reported that nearly 19 million hryvnias had been allocated from Mykolaiv’s budget for the repair of 120 playgrounds.
