In total, over 130 people are being treated at comprehensive rehabilitation centres for children with disabilities in Mykolaiv.

This was announced during a live broadcast on 22 May by Serhii Vasylenko, director of the Department of Labour and Social Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

According to Serhii Vasylenko, there are several rehabilitation centres operating in the city where children receive the necessary therapy and support.

«The comprehensive rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities has been operating since the start of the full-scale war. At 13 Pohranychna Street, in the main building, 43 children are currently being cared for, and in the Korabelnyi district — 30 children. Also, at 12 Pozdovzhnia Street, where a branch for children and people with disabilities has been opened, 25 people are being cared for,» he said.

The official added that, with the support of an international organisation, the LEVCHYK SPECTRUM HUB centre had been opened at this branch, which works with children with autism spectrum disorder aged up to 7. Currently, 36 children are being treated there, and the number of visitors may increase.

«This does not depend on us, as the specialists are funded directly by the organisation that runs the centre. But the facility is in demand, and there is already a waiting list of children who want to attend,» added Serhii Vasylenko.

As a reminder, there are several projects in the Mykolaiv region to help children with special educational needs. In addition to school assistants, support is also provided to pre-schoolers with autism spectrum disorders. The number of such children has increased during the war.
