From 4 May, a new ticket will be introduced on Mykolaiv’s public transport — the so-called «inspector’s ticket» for those who have not paid their fare. It will cost 300 hryvnias. If passengers refuse to pay, the police will be called.

This was announced during a live broadcast by Yurii Smetana, director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivelektrotrans, according to NikVesti.

From 4 May, public transport fares in Mykolaiv will increase. A new feature will be the inspector’s ticket. Yurii Smetana explained that passengers who have not paid their fare will be offered a ticket for 300 hryvnias. In the event of refusal, the police will be called, as it is the law enforcement officers who can impose a fine.

«If a person refuses, all conductors have body cameras, and they will also be equipped with panic buttons to call the State Security Service. While conductors are on duty, they will remain at the stop. If a person refuses, a conflict situation will arise, and the conductors will call the State Security Service. Upon the arrival of security, the person will be removed from the vehicle. At the same time, inspectors will call the National Police, who are authorised to issue administrative reports against offenders for breaching public transport regulations, as well as for travelling without a ticket,» said the head of the electric transport department.

As a reminder, fares across all public transport in Mykolaiv have been increased by an average of 33%. The new fares will apply on minibuses and buses from 27 April, and on electric transport from 4 May.
