Although shelling of Mykolaiv has decreased compared to the start of the war, the extent of damage has increased. In March alone, 110 damaged properties were surveyed in the city.
This was reported during a briefing on 18 March by Olena Tuova, head of the State Architectural and Construction Control Department (SACCD), according to NikVesti.
The Department of State Architectural and Construction Control, together with the Department of Housing and Communal Services and the District Administrations’ Emergency Situations Departments, are responsible for inspecting damaged property following shelling.
«Since 1 March 110 properties have been inspected. These include flats, non-residential premises and public utilities facilities,» said Olena Tuova.

For example, in Mykolaiv, a man has not registered the documents for his house since 1998.
«Very often we find that we visit a property, carry out an inspection, but, unfortunately, we do not receive compensation for the property, nor do we receive the commission’s inspection report, because the title documents are missing. A striking example is a property that was damaged in January. It was a direct hit, which falls under the third category, meaning the person was entitled to full compensation. However, unfortunately, since 1998, when the house was built, he has taken no steps to maintain the property,» added Olena Tuova.
The head of the State Architectural and Construction Inspection also noted that all damaged properties in the city have now been inspected. Inspection reports will be issued within a week.
At the same time, Olena Tuova noted that although there have been fewer shellings of Mykolaiv, the damage has increased. There are also places that have been hit repeatedly.
«We have, as they say, fewer strikes. But there are more inspections. Because the strikes are more destructive. Whereas in 2023 we inspected 1,008 sites, by 2025 this figure had risen to 2,128. To date, we have already inspected 240 sites. In other words, there are some that have been damaged more than once,» added Olena Tuova.
As a reminder, on 12 March, Mykolaiv was attacked by drones. A transport infrastructure facility was targeted. In addition, two private homes and the roof of an educational institution were damaged.
Also, on 16 March, windows in an educational establishment and a high-rise building were damaged as a result of overnight shelling.
We would also like to remind you that the Housing and Utilities Department has provided an update on the future of the buildings damaged by shelling on Admiralska, Lohinova and Pohranychna streets.
