The government has allocated 50 million hryvnias in subsidies to complete the construction of school shelters in Oleksandrivka and Snihurivka in the Mykolaiv region.

This is evidenced by the government's order on the distribution of subsidies from the state budget to local budgets in 2026, according to NikVesti.

In particular, the budget of the Oleksandrivka settlement territorial community will receive 27.4 million hryvnias, and the budget of the Snihurivka city territorial community will receive 13.6 million hryvnias.

The neighbouring Kherson region will receive 17 million hryvnias for the additional construction of shelters, and the Odesa region will receive 9.8 million hryvnias.

In total, 231.1 million hryvnias have been allocated from the state budget for the construction of school shelters under this decision.

These funds will be directed to 22 projects that are already at least 60% complete and are in the final stages, explained Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

«This will allow us to complete construction this year and ensure safe conditions for offline or blended learning for 10,000 Ukrainian children in schools, military lyceums, naval lyceums, and lyceums with enhanced military and physical training,» she said.

It should be noted that the Danish government is financing the construction of a new anti-radiation shelter at Mykolaiv Lyceum №61 — this will be the first school shelter in the Varvarivka microdistrict.

It should be noted that there are two educational institutions in the Varvarivka microdistrict — Lyceum №60 and Lyceum №61. Construction of a new building has begun at Lyceum №60 on the site of the one destroyed by a Russian missile. The new construction also provides for a shelter, but work has been suspended for now.

At the same time, Tetiana Martychenko, deputy director of Lyceum №60, told NikVesti that due to the lack of a shelter, the lyceum cannot teach children in a face-to-face or blended format. But the problem with school shelters is bigger, she said, because there is not a single one in the entire Varvarivka neighbourhood.
