Residents of Mykolaiv complain about the poor condition of paid parking areas in the city after last week's ice and snow.
Relevant posts are being shared on social media, according to NikVesti.
On Tuesday, 3 January, local resident Valeriia posted on Threads complaining about the city's parking lots. According to her, the snow has not been cleared from the parking spaces since Saturday, 31 January.
«They made the parking spaces paid, but why the hell haven't they even been cleared?! The snow fell on Saturday. I won't even mention that the roads haven't been cleared at all,» she wrote.
In the comments, the woman clarified that she is not against paid parking, but expects the cost to correspond to the quality of services.
«I am not against paid parking, but when you can actually see what you are paying for. And not just for the sake of it: the side of the road somewhere,» she explained.
The editorial staff of NikVesti decided to check the condition of paid parking lots in the city. As it turned out, even in the central part of Mykolaiv — near the city council and next to Soborna Street — you can find car parks with uncleared snow, as well as debris left after bad weather, such as stones and broken branches. Due to warming during the day, the snow begins to melt, and at night and in the morning, when the temperature drops, it freezes and turns into an icy crust.
At the same time, it should be noted that there are well-maintained paid parking areas in the city. However, even in these areas, there is often a significant layer of ice, which can cause injuries when getting out of the car or trying to reach your vehicle on icy roads.
We would like to remind you that the municipal enterprise «Timeset» is responsible for the maintenance and care of parking lots in Mykolaiv. In a comment to NikVesti, the financial director of the municipal enterprise «Timeset» Dmytro Naumenko explained that paid parking areas in the city were last cleaned on approximately 10-12 January. This is because, starting in the new year, the enterprise must first hold a new tender and conclude a contract with a contractor who will maintain the parking areas. The procurement will be conducted directly, collecting commercial offers from potential contractors. The selection criterion will be the lowest price.
«We need at least three contractors. We already have two providers of these services. We are now waiting for a third proposal. From among them, we will select the people who will serve us in this matter based on the best proposal. Yes, we have not been able to clean up yet because we have only just announced the tender, put it out, and done all that — we simply did not have time. The last time we cleared was on 10–12 January, because according to our legislation, we couldn't sign a contract for more than 10% of the cleaning. Snow removal is a more expensive service than leaf removal,» he explained.
Dmytro Naumenko also noted that the company plans to resolve this issue by the end of the week and begin full-scale cleaning of parking areas starting next week.
In addition, the official also reminded that in the application, which users access when paying for parking services, there is an option to complain in case of problems with payment or the condition of the parking lot itself. According to Dmytro Naumenko, responses to complaints are not immediate, but they are provided. Other issues are not being addressed yet, as there is currently no employee responsible for responding to people, but the municipal enterprise is working on this.
Earlier, NikVesti wrote that in Mykolaiv, after six months of paid parking, the city budget will receive 147,434 hryvnias. At the same time, the municipal enterprise TimeSet's own profit from parking was 5,226 hryvnias.
What is the situation with parking in Mykolaiv?
It is known that 11 paid parking areas have been officially approved in the city to date, with a total of 119 parking spaces. Due to the bollards installed on pavements and in parking lot, the number of free spaces has decreased. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said he was satisfied with the new traffic organisation on Vadym Blahovisnyi Street (Nikolska) in the center of Mykolaiv.
During the summer of 2025, the sites brought the Time Set municipal enterprise 111,400 hryvnias in revenue, which will be transferred to the city budget after mandatory payments are made.
However, Andrii Yantar, a deputy from the Propozytsia party, criticises the system, noting that it does not improve comfort for residents and creates additional problems.
In addition, in 2025, the city budget received about 4 million hryvnias for illegal parking.
Earlier, NikVesti wrote about how they will work and who will control payments in the article «Paid parking has appeared in the centre of Mykolaiv. How will they work and who will control payments?»
