There are no plans to lift the curfew in Mykolaiv Oblast, despite the update of nationwide rules in connection with the emergency situation in the energy sector.

This was announced by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Vitalii Kim, in his video address, according to NikVesti.

At the same time, police patrols will be stepped up in the region, and law enforcement officers will be more lenient towards people who are forced to move around during curfew due to a lack of electricity, water or heat.

«The police are establishing additional patrols and will be more lenient towards people who are out during curfew, particularly if they are visiting friends to keep warm or going to places of refuge,» said Vitalii Kim.

He stressed that citizens must carry their documents with them when travelling at night, as the police have the right to check them for security reasons and to prevent possible threats.

«But this does not mean that you can walk around and relax there, loiter. It means that you must have your documents with you. The police may check to ensure that there are no terrorist attacks or anything else, to prevent this, and they will not take anyone to the district police stations and so on. But use this wisely,» added Vitalii Kim.

Earlier, the government announced that due to the energy emergency, curfew restrictions may be eased in certain regions of Ukraine. The list of settlements will be determined by the Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergencies.

Citizens may be allowed to move around without passes and to use private transport, in particular to visit warming centres and places of refuge. Additional decisions will be made by regional administrations, taking into account the situation on the ground.
