Director of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» Dmytro Teslenko responded to criticism from Mykolaiv residents about the lack of public transport in the evening.
This was discussed during a live broadcast on 19 December, according to NikVesti.
According to Dmytro Teslenko, the company's priority is morning transportation during rush hours, when people go to work, school, hospitals and other institutions in large numbers. That is why bus intervals are shorter in the morning.
«By law, a driver cannot work for more than 12 hours. The buses start early, and we focus on working transportation in the morning, when people need to get to work, school, hospitals, etc. At this time, the interval between buses is shorter. In the evening, the interval really increases. Buses don't go off the route because the drivers want to, or I want to. There is a schedule that they stick to, for the most part,» explained the company director.
At the same time, he noted that technical factors also affect compliance with transportation schedules. In particular, the buses received by the city as humanitarian aid from other countries are not new and have a significant mileage, which is why they occasionally break down.
«If our specialists are unable to fix the problem on the spot, the bus is forced to leave the route, which affects the number of vehicles and the traffic schedule,» added Dmytro Teslenko.
At the same time, he assured that KP «Mykolaivpastrans» is working to ensure that faulty buses are replaced promptly and timetables are adjusted for the convenience of passengers.
Earlier, a drunken passenger attacked a city bus controller in Mykolaiv.
