It is about laying a new network on Dmytro Yavornytskyi, Burevisnykiv, Sokolyna streets with a connection on Soniachnyi Lane.
The project involves dismantling a section of the road surface, excavation, pipeline laying, disinfection and flushing of new pipes, arrangement of reinforced concrete wells, waterproofing, installation of valves, hydrants and flanges, as well as restoration of the pavement and landscaping.
The press service of «Mykolaivvodokanal» explained in a comment to NikVesti that the planned construction is to replace the old water supply system, which has been in operation for more than 50 years and has already exhausted its life. During this time, the area around the railway station and Gorky village has grown, new residential buildings and businesses have appeared, and the load on the network has increased.
«We plan to actually upgrade the existing water supply network. This water supply system was built more than 50 years ago. And for all these years, an old, worn-out emergency water supply line has been providing water supply. But the service life has expired, accidents have become more frequent and the question of restoring this water supply system has arisen,» the water utility said.
The old pipeline passes through the territories of enterprises and under residential buildings, which makes it impossible to replace it without significant inconvenience to people. Therefore, it was decided to move the new pipeline to neighbouring streets.
«Once the construction is complete, all consumers — both businesses and private homes — will be reconnected. The quality of water supply for this neighbourhood will be significantly improved,» the water utility explains.
As a reminder, on 7 October, Mykolaiv was connected to a new water supply system that supplies the city with water. According to Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, the water supply system is already operating in the system of «Mykolaivvodokanal», and the filtration system at the treatment plant has been updated — 4 out of 8 filters have been replaced so far, and 4 more are planned to be replaced in the near future. The mayor also stressed that after the launch of the new water supply system, the city continues to flush the networks, so you can see open fire hydrants on the streets — this is planned work, not an accident.
By the end of the year, Mykolaiv plans to build additional water treatment facilities that will significantly improve water quality. Their funding is provided from the state budget.
