Ukraine has once again joined the UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2025-2029, having received the largest number of votes among the candidates.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram channel.
«Together with Romania and Moldova, we are ahead of Russia: for the second time in a row, Moscow has lost the election and will not join the Council,» the Head of State said.
The President thanked the countries that had supported the Ukrainian candidacy and emphasised that membership in the Executive Board provided Ukraine with important opportunities for international cooperation.
«Together with our partners, we will use all the opportunities provided by UNESCO to restore life, protect our culture, heritage and people. We will ensure that all forms of Russian aggression — be it war or hybrid threats — are properly countered. There is no alternative to peace. It's time for Moscow to realise this», Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
Earlier it was reported that Kyiv officially became part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and received the status of «City of Music».
