The accessibility of shelters is being checked in Kherson. In just one week, padlocks and cores that prevented free access to the shelters were dismantled in three of them.
According to the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanko, five responsible persons have been warned of the consequences for not allowing people to enter the shelters.
«On my instructions, we have been checking the accessibility of the shelters for a week now to make sure that in case of danger, everyone can get there without hindrance. Unfortunately, we have identified cases where responsible persons lock the shelters with their own locks. This is unacceptable. Such actions endanger people's lives,» said Yaroslav Shanko.
According to him, the city is also carrying out repair work in the basements of high-rise buildings to equip them for shelters. In cooperation with philanthropists, they are being equipped with chairs, lighting, first aid kits and generators.
«I urge all those responsible for the shelters to take this issue with the utmost seriousness. We continue to inspect, repair and equip the shelters so that everyone can feel safe in their hometown during threats,» said the head of the RMA.
Earlier it was reported that Voznesensk would receive 1.2 million hryvnias from the state budget to repair a shelter in a residential building. The money should be received in November, but must be spent by the end of 2025.
