On Friday, 22 October, the Security Service of Ukraine presented an updated generation of Sea Baby maritime drones and reported that they had already been used in successful operations in the Black Sea.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the agency, these are the drones that hit the Kerch (Crimean) Bridge in June 2025. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the militants mined the bridge's pillars underwater.
The updated models can cover distances of over 1500 kilometres and carry up to 2000 kilograms of cargo. The drones have been fitted with reinforced engines and a modern navigation system.
In addition, the new Sea Babies are equipped with a gyro-stabilised machine gun with an automatic target acquisition and recognition system. Another model can carry heavy weapons, including a 10-round multiple launch rocket system «Grad».
Brigadier General of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Lukashevych emphasised that the Security Service of Ukraine is the ideologist of a new type of naval warfare.
«We are constantly looking for effective means to maintain Ukraine's advantage in the Black Sea for as long as possible. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's task is to neutralise the powerful Russian Black Sea Fleet. We are actively working on this», he stressed.
It is worth reminding that the Sea Baby drones, for which Ukrainians raised funds through the «UNITED24» platform, were equipped with «Grad» systems. In 2024, the upgraded drone was already tested and is already actively fighting the invaders on the Kinburn Spit.
