The municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» is going to plant more than 300 trees in the city this autumn.
This was announced by the director of the utility company, Dmytro Chuchmai, during his online briefing on 30 September, according to NikVesti.
«We are preparing for the autumn tree planting. In total, we plan to plant about 300 trees, namely: 160 sharp-leaved maples and 150 Crimean pines on the territory of Mykolaiv. This will not only beautify the urban space, but will also bring many benefits: it will improve air quality and reduce dust, create natural shade and comfortable conditions on hot days, reduce noise and improve the microclimate,» said Dmytro Chuchmai.
The municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» spent 1 million hryvnias to purchase these trees. The maples will be at least 2 metres high and have a trunk diameter of at least 5 centimetres, while the pines will be at least 1.2 metres high and have a trunk diameter of at least 6 centimetres.
As you know, in the spring of 2025, the municipal enterprise «Mykolaiv Parks» did not plant a single tree in the city. However, in April, the city held a campaign «Tree is the life of the community», during which the townspeople planted 38 trees.
In October 2023, young pine saplings were planted in the park-monument of landscape art «Victory Park». In March 2024, Mykolaiv residents noticed that some of the trees had turned yellow and died.
The «Mykolaiv parks» then replied that the trees were planted with an open root system without an earthen lump, so all of them died.
