Over the past three years, more than 285 million hryvnias has been spent on road repairs in the central district of Mykolaiv. However, this is not enough to solve all the problems with the road infrastructure.

This is described in the article NikVesti: District administrations of Mykolaiv: how much do they spend on road repairs and are they afraid of «cutting» powers?

The head of the district administration, Oleksandr Bereza, notes that there are far more appeals from residents than funds allocated, and most private sector streets still remain unpaved.

«There are far more appeals from citizens than funding allocated from year to year. Most streets remain unpaved. The private sector needs funding to improve the road network. Many applications are postponed from year to year and are waiting for funding,» says the head of the administration.

According to him, if a street is long, repairs are carried out in stages, dividing it into parts.

«For example, Partyzanska Street. We started repairing it last year. This year, another section was repaired. And if there is some additional funding this year, we will be able to complete it. If not, this issue will be postponed to the next year. Therefore, there is always a need,» says Oleksandr Bereza.

Last year, the Administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv spent 2.4 million hryvnias to repair the road along one block of the private sector. This is Vladimir Stank Street, from residential building No. 38 to residential building №11. The area to be repaired is 1476 square metres.

In February 2023, the Administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv announced a tender for the repair of the road along one block of the private sector on Pavlo Khodchenko Street. It was planned to spend 2 million hryvnias. However, the tender was cancelled due to «the inability to eliminate the identified violations of public procurement legislation».

At the same time, residents of the Varvarivka neighbourhood are asking for major repairs to the road along Berezanskyi Lane. They want three blocks of the road to be repaired by the private sector. Currently, they say, the road is in an unusable condition: when it rains, the surface turns into a swamp, and in summer, residents suffer from a lot of dust.

Earlier, the head of the administration of Mykolaiv's Central District, Oleksandr Bereza, criticised the work of public utilities in the Polish city of Wroclaw, which are carrying out major repairs to several blocks. He also justified the cutting down of perennial blue fir trees near the city council building as decommunisation.
