The Mykolaiv Regional Council plans to purchase an electronic voting system to hold its sessions online.
This became known during a meeting of the Mykolaiv Regional Council's Commission on Agrarian Policy, Land Use, Rural Development and Food Security, NikVesti reports.
Tetiana Labartkava, the administrator of the regional council's executive office, noted that during the enemy attack on the building of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, the session hall with the voting system was also destroyed. According to her, to hold online sessions, it is necessary to have a roll-call voting system.
Labartkava did not specify what kind of system it should be and its cost, but noted that it would soon be purchased through the Prozorro system.
«Our system that was installed in the hall, unfortunately, was destroyed. The war is ongoing and this gives grounds for online presidency in the future. Therefore, there are already developed voting systems on the market that have the identification of each deputy. Not the Zoom system, but each MP will be given a separate password and login, and the voting results will clearly indicate that it was that MP who voted», explained Labartkava.
It should be reminded that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Mykolaiv City Council has not held a single session in an offline format. Starting from 24 February, meetings have been held exclusively via zoom conferences.
Earlier, in August 2023, NikVesti talked to the heads of the deputy factions to find out whether they supported the city council's move to a face-to-face format. According to the heads of the factions, this will not change the quality of work of the deputies. In particular, this opinion was supported by Artem Illiuk, Anna Remennikova and Fedir Panchenko.
In her turn, Tetiana Dombrovska, head of the «Servant of the People» faction in Mykolaiv City Council, stressed the importance of switching the city council's work to a face-to-face mode.
It is worth noting that the regional council also holds its sessions mostly online. Vitaliy Kim, head of Mykolaiv regional administration, said that the deputies of the regional council would start working in person only when security measures are finally adopted and a place with a shelter is provided.
At the same time, Vitalii Kim cited the courage of Ochakiv, which suffers from Russian shelling almost daily, noting that even in such circumstances, the city council holds all sessions offline.
In turn, the deputy mayor of Ochakiv, Oleksii Vaskov, said that during the entire period of the full-scale invasion, the deputy corps of the Ochakiv City Council held only in-person sessions. The deputies even met in bomb shelters.
