₴33 million spent to restore cultural infrastructure in Mykolaiv region damaged by shelling

As of 1 September 2025, 60 cultural infrastructure facilities that were destroyed by the war have already been restored in the Mykolaiv region.

This was announced during a briefing by Olena Buberenko, Head of the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, NikVesti.

Among the examples of restoration, she mentioned the repair of the roof of the Mykolaiv Professional College of Culture and Arts, for which 5.5 million hryvnias was allocated from the regional budget. In total, about 33 million hryvnias was allocated and used to restore all the affected facilities.

«In the Mykolaiv region, 165 cultural infrastructure facilities were destroyed or damaged, 24 of which were completely destroyed. As of 1 September 2025, 60 sites have already been restored. One of the most striking examples is the complete restoration of the roof of the Mykolaiv Professional College of Culture and Arts at a cost of 5.5 million hryvnias from the regional budget. And the total figure for the restoration of institutions in the region today is about 33 million hryvnias,» said the head of the department.

Olena Buberenko also said that art education is actively developing in Mykolaiv region. Currently, there are two professional higher education institutions of art, two colleges and 43 art schools with more than 5,300 children. In 2025, the colleges graduated 95 specialists and admitted 178 new students.

As a reminder, 77 cultural heritage monuments and cultural infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed as a result of hostile shelling in Mykolaiv. This is described in the article NikVesti «What architectural monuments did Russia destroy in Mykolaiv and what will happen to them?».

In general, among «cultural» objects, Mykolaiv suffered the most: Kudriavtsev's dacha, Arkas gymnasium, Menkini's house, the historic building of the «Admiralty», and the building of the Kropyvnytskyi library branch №17 was completely destroyed.

As a reminder, the NGO «Agency for Cultural Resilience» allocated 1.2 million hryvnias for priority emergency repairs to the Menkini House, a building of the regional centre for folk art located on Admiralska Street, opposite the destroyed «Inhul» hotel.
