Ukraine is completing the preparation of the energy system for the heating season and is doing so in accordance with the schedule. To this end, the energy sector will prepare about 17.6 GW.

This was stated by Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk during a meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters in Zaporizhzhia with the participation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the Energy Ministry reports.

According to Hrynchuk, repair and restoration work at power facilities is ongoing, and 17.6 GW of capacity will be prepared for the heating season.

«Reserves of resources are being accumulated, equipment reserves are being formed, and emergency drills are being conducted. The protection of critical infrastructure is being strengthened, and distributed generation is being developed: 194 MW has already been commissioned this year, and more than 380 MW is planned by the end of the year. We are considering all possible scenarios to prepare the power system for the next winter,» said Svitlana Hrynchuk.

The minister stressed that international support is being actively engaged in the preparation of the energy sector, in particular from the Energy Support Fund, UNDP, EBRD, JICA and the World Bank.

As reported earlier, NikVesti wrote that the heating season in Mykolaiv and other cities of Ukraine may be at risk of disruption this year due to the consequences of missile attacks.
