Vice Mayor Koreniev spent 45 days in Tokyo: Studied waste recycling and reconstruction experience

Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv Serhii Koreniev spent 45 days in the Japanese capital, studying the experience of reconstruction and waste recycling.
This is stated in an article by Nikcenter.
In response to a request from journalists, the mayor's office said that the vice mayor had visited Tokyo twice — in 2023 and 2024 — under programmes of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In total, his business trips to Tokyo lasted 45 days.
From 8 to 28 May 2023, Serhii Koreniev spent 21 days in Tokyo, where he received training and met with JICA representatives on rebuilding cities after war and natural disasters.
And from 19 January to 11 February 2024, he took part in the JICA training «Capacity Building for Demolition and Recycling Waste Management».
The programmes were aimed at transferring Japanese experience in disaster recovery to Ukrainian managers, as well as approaches to waste sorting and recycling. It should be noted that in December 2024, Mykolaiv received machinery and equipment worth 108.5 million hryvnias from JICA.
Since 2022, Serhii Koreniev has spent 233 days on business trips abroad in the following countries: in 2022 — Poland, Germany, Romania; in 2023 — Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Belgium, the United Kingdom (Jersey), Romania; in 2024 — Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark, Thailand; in 2025 — Thailand, the United States, Spain, Italy.
In total, all business trips of the deputy mayor cost the budget 143.5 thousand hryvnias. In the period from 1 January 2023 to the end of 2024, this amount was 113 thousand hryvnias.
As reported earlier, on 20 March, Mykolaiv Vice Mayor Serhii Koreniev, Chief Architect of the city Yevhen Poliakov and Head of the Standardisation Department of Mykolaiv City Council Dmytro Kanarskyi attended the international forum «Rebuilding Ukraine with Taiwan: Innovation, Partnership and Progress» held as part of the Smart City Summit & Expo 2025 in Taipei.
