The number of free parking spaces in the centre of Mykolaiv has decreased. The municipal specialised installation and maintenance company has installed bollards (protective posts) on the sidewalks and so-called «pockets», so drivers can no longer leave their cars there.
According to the correspondent of NikVesti, as a result, citizens are forced to park mainly in paid parking lots along Vadym Blahovisnyi Street (Nikolska) from Mariupolska Street to Heroiv Riatuvalnykiv Street (Liahina Street).
The response of the Mykolaiv City Council to the request of NikVesti states that the installation of bollards is carried out in accordance with the traffic management schemes agreed by the Patrol Police Department in Mykolaiv region.
In particular, bollards have already been installed at the following addresses:
- Epiphany Avenue — Zoo;
- Tsentralnyi Avenue — Oleksii Vadaturskyi (Falieievska) Street;
- 65 Sevastopolska Street — Sadova Street;
- Arkasivska (Pushkinska) Street — Velyka Morska Street;
- Vadym Blahovisnyi Street (Nikolska), from Mariupolskaya Street to Heroiv Riatuvalnykiv Street (Liahina).
As a reminder, the city has officially approved 11 paid parking areas with a total of 119 parking spaces. The locations are determined by the executive committee of the city council in accordance with the Law of Ukraine «On Local Self-Government in Ukraine» №280/97.
