School subjects will be added to «Defence of Ukraine»: Mykolaiv Education Department tells how it will be taught

In Mykolaiv, the study of the subject «Defence of Ukraine» starts in the new academic year. For this purpose, three special educational centres are being set up, where lyceum students will attend classes once a month.

This was announced during a live broadcast by Hanna Lychko, head of the education department of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

«The decision of the executive committee has already been made, and lyceum heads know where their children will study. From 1 September, the subject will be taught at three newly created centres. The first step is to complete the purchase of equipment in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, as well as repairs. We hope that we will be able to do everything in time and that the children will have comfortable conditions,» said Hanna Lychko.

She emphasised that it is important not only to create the material base but also to interest schoolchildren.

As a reminder, in late July, an updated draft of the «Defending Ukraine» programme was presented, which includes the same content for all students, regardless of gender. The programme covers topics such as innovative technologies, information security and first aid.

As you know, the outflow of students from schools continues in Mykolaiv. According to preliminary data, about 35,000 children will start the school year on 1 September, compared to 46,000 at the start of the full-scale invasion.
