The Pervomaisk community plans to liquidate the Chausove gymnasium, which has 33 children. Students will be transported to other educational institutions.

The relevant draft decision is to be considered at a meeting of the Pervomaisk City Council.

Before that, the village held public hearings to discuss the reasons for the decision. The main one is the small number of students. According to the Department of Education of the Pervomaisk City Council, as of 1 September 2024, there were 39 students in the Chausove gymnasium and no applications for the first grade were submitted. Due to the lack of children, the gymnasium did not enrol the first grade in the 2021/2022 school year. In June 2025, six 9th graders graduated, so the school will have 33 students.

A commission is to be set up to liquidate the school. It is also noted that all students of the Chausove gymnasium will be transferred to other schools in the community. They will be transported by school bus.

A total of 6,809 schoolchildren study in the Pervomaisk community, according to «Hard.City». As of the end of the academic year 2024/2025, there are 18 general secondary education institutions in the community. Half of them conduct classes in a full-time format, the rest — in a mixed format, taking into account the security situation.

It is worth reminding that in Mykolaiv region, as well as in nine other regions of Ukraine, it is planned to close some schools from 1 September 2025. These are communities where the educational process will become impossible or inefficient due to the war or demographic changes.

As reported earlier, 59 schools may be closed in Mykolaiv region due to insufficient number of students for full-time education. The regional authorities are trying to secure a delay or exemptions for frontline schools.
